BEST

By Mendi Behnen

I remember one day when my son was about three years old. It was a normal, every-day day and like many other days I was making his all-time favorite lunch – a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I placed two pieces of bread on a paper plate on the counter and crossed the room to get the peanut butter and jelly. As I returned to the counter where I left the bread, what I found was my son sitting on the floor eating the plain bread.

Imagine my surprise. I had planned to give him that bread …and so much more. Why was he willing to settle for something less? He saw the bread and I guess he thought it looked good enough. Perhaps he never considered that I wanted the best for him, not just “good enough”.

Have I ever found myself in this situation? I reach for what I want and settle for something I believe I will like instead of waiting on God’s timing when He has a plan for my best. It is time to call upon God and seek Him with all of my heart. When I do I will find Him and begin to recognize that God has great plans for my BEST.
