Believe

By Mendi Behnen

“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

During the Christmas season you see a lot of signs and displays that say “Believe.” I find myself asking, “Believe what?” Are they encouraging us to believe in a jolly man, a frozen workshop, a miracle on 34th street or simply remind us of the childlike wonder of Christmas?

I think that’s why I appreciate this ornament. The call for belief seems clear: a childlike belief in the true meaning of Christmas. We are to become like children …believing in Jesus and His resurrection so that we might be saved and enter the kingdom of heaven.

May you take time in this season to consider why we celebrate; to thank God for His most precious gift to us on that first Christmas; and to believe in your heart that He was born that day so that He could die in your place and then be raised from the dead so that you may be saved.

This will ensure a truly Merry CHRISTmas!

”That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;”  Romans 10:9
